MISSION

Develop and implement the external communications strategy from planning to execution across email, SMS, and surveys. Oversee how this strategy is executed across social media channels and drive growth and engagement across all connected audiences. Provide reporting and recommendations based on campaign performance to the marketing team and our partners. Guide teammates on your areas of focus and lead by example.

RESPONSIBILITIES

EVENT Responsibilities

    • Lead conversations surrounding event communications in internal and external Marketing meetings as well as milestone Event Huddles
    • Create Communications Timeline per event (all website, email, SMS, and social media messaging) and oversee Marketing Specialists in timeline management & maintenance
    • Work closely with Manager, Marketing & Advertising and Director, Marketing to reflect tentpole moments within comms timeline to be supported with appropriate paid media and/or promotions and finalize for external (partner, host talent) presentation and alignment
    • Evaluate marketing plans with marketing team members based on their area of focus and expertise
    • Regularly evaluate, refine, and maintain all event assets, content, communication, and websites to ensure consistency and strength of tone and voice, often in collaboration with the Community Experience Specialist
    • Connect with host and/or primary talent marketing teams to coordinate joint promotion of all event milestones, especially those related to launch
    • Serve as the main point of contact for copywriter(s) and provide them with briefs across all applicable events
    • Alongside Manager, Marketing & Advertising and Director, Marketing build reporting structure & create regular reporting cadence with external partners

DEPARTMENT Responsibilities

    • Train, mentor, and collaborate with Marketing Specialist(s)
    • Oversee all external communications for both the company and its portfolio of events, ensuring that messaging is clear, consistent, and engaging while modifying tone as needed for the audience or message content
    • Work closely with Manager, Marketing & Advertising and Director, Marketing to reflect tentpole moments within comms timeline to be supported with appropriate paid media and/or promotions and finalize for external (partner, host talent) presentation and alignment
    • Create, implement and manage content calendars for company social media profiles
    • Prepare or oversee the preparation of all company statements/notifications that pertain to company events (e.g. program/service updates, postponements/cancellations, policy/protocol changes, etc.)
    • Oversee and implement the company’s email and SMS marketing program, driving efficiencies and refining approach as event growth scales up
    • Develop and implement the company’s survey strategy to ensure timely delivery and results reporting while ensuring consistency for effective evaluation and comparisons across events and/or communities
    • Collaborate with Marketing, Creative, and Community Experience Specialists on design, content, and production of all communication materials
    • Proactively research tools and reevaluate processes to improve communications planning, procedures, and implementation
    • Implement and monitor a process for systematic review and proofreading to ensure the accuracy of all outgoing communications
    • Serve as an internal tech stack expert, help troubleshoot issues and identify areas for improvement. Help onboard new hires with appropriate trainings across tech stack as applicable

SAILING Responsibilities

    • The Lead Communications Specialist role will sail on assigned events as needed, or about 2-4 events per calendar year as the position primarily serves as Shore Side support during sailing season
    • Assist Marketing Specialists to develop onboard photo/video shot lists and content plans that showcases each event in the moment, prepares the Event Team to launch next steps after sailing, and sets the event (and Sixthman) up for success for future promotions

OTHER Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with Director Marketing and company publicist on press release copy to maximize impact of company communications
    • Assist with the preparation and review of all company presentations and/or speeches
    • Develop and implement effective communication strategies for a Sixthman loyalty program to promote both overall brand awareness, guest satisfaction, and retention
    • Guide Sixthman’s overall strategy, internal execution, and external communication of the company’s philanthropy through Give Loud including event integrations and public releases
    • Attend relevant industry events to build relationships and to monitor best practices and make appropriate recommendations
    • Additional projects and duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience)
  • 4 years of experience
  • Experience with Salesforce, customer data platforms, content management systems, and customer service required
  • Strong social media and PR experience preferred
  • Strong sense of design and art direction
  • Strong sense of conveying tone and brand in communications and messaging
  • Experience with both broad-based communications to communities or brands and tailored communications adjusting tone as needed for audience or message
  • Ability to work closely with coworkers across all teams
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conceptualize ideas and bring them to fruition
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes or challenges
  • Computer proficiency (Email, Word, and strong Excel skills)
